Here’s a PatOP opposed piston engine (the pistons and the combustion chamber between them are on the left) with a built in scavenge pump to blow air in (the piston on the right).
Like the flying car, this is the kind of thing which is in the future and seemingly destined to remain there.

I’m intrigued by this. Will likely be an absolute nightmare to balance most likely though.
